Hey Friends! Today is the next phase of inspections. So while we wait for the green light to move ahead I thought I would share a bit of history of our previous salon locations. This is a very long post so buckle up!
So, I was born during a snowstorm in Dec of 1980…just kidding were not going back that far. But I will say preparing this post has been a super fun stroll down memory lane. And solid proof to myself that my career of 21 years thus far has been pretty freaking amazing!
My first “salon” was actually in my home in Affton, MO. In 2005 . we converted our Laundry room into a small salon suite very much like what I operate in currently. This was definitely before Facebook was a thing because I have Zero photos that I can find. Here is a link to the Zillow listing if you wanna imagine with me. the laundry is off the kitchen.

In 2008, We decided to move to a larger home in O’Fallon, MO. I again, converted a room in the basement to a suite and continued to create beautiful hair. Shelby was still little, and the plan was to wait until she was enrolled in school and then I would explore some ideas to move the salon out the house which should have been about 3 more years. I still have no photos of this location that I can find either, so there is that.
Maybe, If I have any previous clients reading this please share any photos you may have!
BUT, in October of 2009, I stumbled across a listing on CRAIGSLIST!!!! (y’all I’m crazy, I see that now) for a salon for sale by the original owner who was retiring at 74! I think I paid like &8000 and signed my first ever commercial lease. This place was huge (for me) and was STRAIGHT DUSTY AND OLD and green, very green. This salon mainly serviced roller sets, perms, color and cuts for 40yrs under the same owner! Check out these BEFORE pics.
We PAINTED AND PAINTED for 2 weeks to flip this place in to something more updated. Check it out!
The name became ProColour Salon and Cosmetics. By this time in my career I was becoming quite known for my wedding work and was booking as far out as 12 months at the time. I had also started a small retail cosmetics company, ProColour Cosmetics, which was the makeup line I used during my wedding career. And then retired the line shortly before moving to FL.
During my time at ProColour we of course did many upgrades and updates but one my all time favorite updates was the MURAL in the entry way that was freestyle painted by my beautiful niece, Cheyenne, who is just an incredible artist among many other things. There was so much meaning in that mural as it has several hidden images special to me! There are 5, Can you find them???
Kudos to you if you’ve made it this far…here are lots more photos of updates thru out the years and I’ll stop for now!
Love, Holly
